New paper about the Asgard archaea and eukaryogenesis is out now!

In an international collaboration, the Ettema-lab has published a new paper in Nature about a group of archaea that gives unique insight into the evolution of cellular complexity, the Asgard archaea. Named after Nordic gods, several relatives of the previously discovered Lokiarchaeum are described in this week’s issue of Nature (paper can be found here)!

If you are interested in downloading the datasets, apart from Genbank, there is an additional data storage available here.asgardThanks to Eva for her wonderful drawing of the Asgard archaea!
