Our new ISME Journal paper on archaeal endosymbionts is out now

Ettema Lab in collaboration with  T. Martin Embley (Newcastle University, UK) just published a new paper in the ISME Journal.

In our latest publication, we assembled genomes from two archaeal methanogenic endosymbionts living in closely related anaerobic ciliates. Although the endosymbiont species are not close relatives of one another, their genomes show some similar features that could have facilitated the convergent and independent evolution of their endosymbiotic lifestyles.
